Lost foam casting (also known as real mold casting) is made of foam plastic (EPS, STMMA or EPMMA) polymer material into a real mold with exactly the same structure and size as the parts to be produced and cast, and is dip-coated with refractory coating (strengthened) , smooth and breathable) and dried, it is buried in dry quartz sand and subjected to three-dimensional vibration modeling. The molten metal is poured into the molding sand box under negative pressure, so that the polymer material model is heated and vaporized, and then extracted. A new casting method that uses liquid metal to replace the one-time mold casting process formed after cooling and solidification to produce castings.         Lost foam casting has the following characteristics: 1. Castings are of good quality and low cost; 2. Materials are not limited and suitable for all sizes; 3. High precision, smooth surface, less cleaning, and less machining; 4. There is no sand core in traditional casting, so there will be no uneven wall thickness of castings caused by inaccurate sand core size or inaccurate core position in traditional sand casting.

.Castings have high precision. Lost foam casting is a new process with nearly no margin and accurate molding. This process does not require mold taking, no parting surface, and no sand core, so the castings have no flash, burrs, and draft angles, and Dimensional errors caused by core combination are reduced. The surface roughness of the castings can reach Ra3.2 to 12.5μm; the dimensional accuracy of the castings can reach CT7 to 9; the machining allowance is 1.5 to 2mm at most, which can greatly reduce the cost of machining. Compared with the traditional sand casting method, it can be reduced by 40 % to 50% of machining time.

Clean production, no chemical binders in the molding sand, foam plastics are environmentally friendly at low temperatures, and the recycling rate of old sand is over 95%.
